CabMod.com is proud to offer high-quality, customizable cabinet doors manufactured in the USA. Our dedicated team is passionate about helping our customers create spaces that are tailored to their specific needs and tastes.
Picking cabinet doors can be tricky. There is a lot to consider and we are here to help! This is how to order your cabinet doors in 5 quick steps.
Step 1: Choose a Style
At CabMod, we believe in keeping it simple, yet timeless. Choose from classic shaker cabinet door designs with square flat panels, go for a clean and modern slab cabinet door style with no stiles and rails, or add a touch of elegance with an arched panel. It's all about personal preference when it comes to custom cabinet doors for your kitchen. Each cabinet door has a matching drawer front to choose from as well. Shop all styles here or shop by category under our 'Custom Cabinet Doors' or 'Cabinet Door Finishes' options.
When placing an order for cabinet doors from CabMod, you can choose glass-ready options. Introducing glass cabinet doors can break the monotony of solid cabinetry, providing a space to showcase decorative items. We'll prepare your doors for glass templating and insertion at a local glass shop; however, please note that we do not ship the glass itself. You will be able to make this selection with each product page.
Step 2: Customizations
Pick Your Finish

- Paint: All of our unfinished cabinet doors are suitable for paint, but we also offer 41 amazing shades of modern and timeless painted cabinet doors ready to be installed upon delivery. Looking for another color that we don’t offer? Check out our unfinished wood cabinet doorsto finish yourself.
- Stain: Stained wood cabinets are a great way to add warmth and color to your space. We offer over 13 shades of beautiful stains for each wood species we offer!
- Thermofoil: Thermofoil cabinet doors are a finished product that is ready to install that consist of a vinyl laminate that is heated and pressurized onto an HDF core. Thermofoil cannot be painted, stained, or sealed. We offer over 28 colors and gorgeous wood grains.
- Laminate: Laminate cabinet doors are constructed with a composite wood core, topped with a polyester-based synthetic surface. This material is appreciated for its durability, resistance to damage, and versatile design options. We offer 17 timeless wood grains and colors for each unique taste.
Pick Your Material
But what’s the difference between white maple select and white maple premium?
Most of our door styles come in a wide variety of materials.
- Premium Grade wood is more suitable for painting than stain or clear coat due to natural imperfections—like mineral deposits or sap discoloration.
- Select Grade wood is the most even and uniform in color and grain pattern. This is the best material for stain or glaze.
View all of our materials on our Material page.
Pick Your Outside Edge
Here at CabMod.com, we are proud to offer customizable edge options on our cabinet doors and drawer fronts. Take a look at our edge guide to see all of the options available.
Open for Glass/Mullions
Most cabinet doors can be made for glass panel inserts. You have the option to leave it open for glass or add a mullion style. No matter what design you choose, you will need to source a single glass panel and secure it with stops. We recommend rubber stops because they are easy to install and uninstall. We do NOT offer glass.
Prebore for Hinges
When buying a door from CabMod, you have the option to have your doors “pre-bored.” What this means is that we will bore the holes in the back of the door, so the door will be ready for its hinges when it arrives.
There are two important measurements when it comes to boring: placement and distance. Placement is the measurement from the top or bottom of the cabinet door to the center of the bore-hole (or cup). For this, we are only able to make 3” placements. Distance is where it can get a bit more difficult.
The distance is measured from the edge, or side, of the cabinet door to the closest point of the bore-hole (or cup). For this we offer two distances, but with a few different patterns. Please reference our boring options here. If you choose to have your doors pre-bored and need assistance please don't hesitate to contact us!
Step 3: Overlay/Inset
When measuring for new custom cabinet doors, you will need to consider your desired overlay. Please refer to our cabinet overlay guide to walk you through how to incorporate these measurements.
Partial Overlay
A Partial overlay leaves some space between the doors, creating a popular and visually appealing look. The industry standard is ½” but can be customized.
Full Overlay
A Full overlay is a great way to create a sleek and modern look in your space. Often used with slab style doors, a full overlay design eliminates the space between the doors, which creates a seamless look to the cabinets.
Inset
Rather than have your cabinet door sitting on top of the face frame, inset cabinets are completely flush with the cabinet box. This look is typically associated with more traditional styles, but, when done right, it will look great in any space.
Step 4: Order Your New Cabinets
Formulas You Will Need
Several useful formulas can be used to determine the exact measurements of your cabinets. From split doors to drawer boxes, our formulas will accurately determine your sizes. If you have any questions or need any assistance with the formulas, our trained inside sales representatives can help you with your order from start to finish.
Split Doors with Overlay: (Opening + (2 x overlay)) / 2 - (Reveal / 2)
Inset Split Doors: (Opening - (2 x reveal)) / 2 - (Reveal / 2)Drawer Box: Opening - manufacturer specification for hardware
- Manufacturers designate the amount of space needed for drawer glides and slides.
